So my friend Natalie told me last week that I hadn't updated my blog in a while. Its been a little busy around here. Well here's an update:
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at my Aunt Cathy's house with two of my cousins and their families.
Survived Christmas! It was fun seeing all my cousins in the Thornock clan. It had been a while since I had seen Jeff & Sandy and their kids and Brian & Sonya and their kids, Rob & Emily & their new baby Bobby and Rick & Barb & their kids. Spent Christmas Eve and night playing tons of games and laughing.
New Years Eve was fun. When over to my cousin's house (The Monroe's) and played more games and watched the ball drop. Left about 3:30am. We are such party people!
We went to dinner and a movie (The Green Hornet) with some friends. Dinner was great! We went to the Old Spaghetti Factory at the Chandler Fashion Mall. It was great food. Can't wait to go again.
We finally got into our back yard last weekend (since the weather was sooo nice) and really cleaned up the yard. I mowed and weed eated a few days eairlier so that Chad would till the dirt. Boy did it need it. We spent about 6 hours working to get it ready to plant grass in the Spring. It really does look better than it did before.
(Before I mowed)
(After)
(After we tilled the dirt and moved the rocks from around the tree)
After spending 6 hours doing yard work, we went to Chad's work and put his office back together. A few weeks prior they had a flood and Chad's office, the conference room and the two bathrooms were flooded. A drain in the warehouse had clogged. So Chad had to move his stuff and setup shop in the IT room. I'm telling you it seemed like it was an 8X10 room (the size of a jail cell) and he actually liked working in that tight space. So they ripped out the bottom half of the wall and carpet and put in new wall and carpet. Now that that was finished, he needed to move back in. So I told him I would help. But after lugging rocks and heavy bags all morning, i wasn't ready for a metal desk. So he got us the forklift and and were able to get most of his furniture back in. Boz thought is was all borning and just wanted to play. But he is all moved in.
(Boz's idea of helping)
(Doesn't he look good as a guard dog?)
(Or maybe a good worker?)
(Unless he is napping?)
(Either way, how do you get any work done when you have an animal taking up space on your desk?)
I have been scrapbooking more than usual. I have started a book for Boz. Its turned out really cute, that my sister wants one. She told me not to hurry on it, but lately thats all I have been working on. It helps me clear my head. She doesn't know that I have almosted finished it and it only took me a week and a half to put together. I hope to suprise her and mail it to her next week!
We also were able to go to the Barrett Jackett Auction (courtesy of Ford) a few Saturdays ago. It was sooo much fun. We went with Mike and Diana (Chad works with Mike and Diana is his wife). We go to the races with them. It was fun to see all the old cars and suped up cars and couldn't believe how much someone was willing to pay for it. The top selling car the whole week was a one-of-a-kind Boss 302 2012 Laguna Blue Ford Mustang! It was sweet. It racked in $450,000. The car was built and auctioned of for the JDRF (Juvinile Diabetes Foundation). Ford is a big support of JDRF. We were lucky to have been there when it was auctioned off. Not even the Chevy Camero (that was being auctioned off for Chevy's Charity) could top that. It only brought in $220,000. I feel very blessed to be working with a company that feels so passionate about a cause. (Didn't help that Bret Micheals from Poison was also pushing it!). But over all it was sooo much fun. Took lots of pics and had some really good food. Can't wait till next year. My goal is to make it into the Ford Sky Box.
We are starting the process of renewing our certification with LDS Family Services for adopting. Its been a little discouraging since we have not had any calls or emails the past year. I just pray that someone knows someone who needs a wonderful loving home for their little one. If any out there does know someone, please keep us in mind. We would sure appreciate it. Please tell your friend, family and Bishops. You never know how you can change someones life just by telling someone.
So far 2011 has been busy for us. I will try and update more often than I have been. Hopefully we will be doing some fun things in the weeks to come!
